Christmas minus the merry tunes? Not a chance! But why settle for the same old jingles when we can spice it up with New Mexican bands, mariachis, and traditional dancers? Let's make the yuletide even more magical with a fusion of classic carols and cultural flair!
The transformation of our farm into a holiday destination will include the addition of a field of Christmas trees. This holiday experience will be unlike any other in our area amidst the beautiful, agricultural setting as people stroll through rows of these evergreen beauties. After deciding on the perfect pick, guests will be delighted as they take in familiar farm sights that are beautifully adorned for the holidays.
To stay warm, we envision bonfires and a heated greenhouse filled with an abundance of poinsettias to shop from.
We will have our farm market stocked with the winter offerings of Red Chile, Ristras, beans, winter squash, wreaths, poinsettias and more. We will also offer themed gift boxes sourced from our local vendors for your Christmas shopping needs.
With any good holiday event comes lots of delicious food, drinks and of course, sweets! In collaboration with local food truck chefs, we want to curate an exclusive holiday menu focusing on traditional holiday recipes using Big Jim Farms produce and other items from local farms, ranches, and dairies. We want the food to taste just like it did for the generations before us. Bring on the tamales, posole, biscochitos and more! No store bought anything; everything will be made from scratch just like grandma would make it. We are collaborating with Steel Bender & Sheehan Winery to offer drinks exclusively designed for this event that tie in the holidays and local farm offerings.
Christmas is not Christmas without the Christmas music and what could make it better than if we had New Mexican musicians to play the classics? Other entertainers for this project would include traditional dancers, mariachis, and Christmas carolers. Our nativity scene will come to life with live reenactments and our farm animals playing their parts. Music will not be left to our stage area only but will be pumped through a speaker system to create a mood throughout all the Christmas zones. Costumed Christmas characters will walk throughout the farm for more photos with families
Gifts will not be in limited supply as we will have our farm market stocked with Big Jim Farms gift baskets featuring honey, salsa, and red chile. We will sell winter produce like beans, apples, red chile ristras, apple cider, Champurrado mix, biscochitto mix, and sopapilla mix. We will invite local artisans and vendors to set up at our farm to offer their handmade products such as wood carvings, tin works, jewelry, Christmas decorations, and more. This will be a unique shopping experience that will showcase the finest works from the people of New Mexico.
As visitors enter our farm they will be greeted with wonderful displays of lights and decorations. From start to finish, all aspects of our holiday experience will scream New Mexico, right down to the Christmas light displays. We want to represent all our state symbols, like the roadrunner, the pinon tree, green and red chile, and the Zia symbol. And of course, because we are a farm, you cannot forget the tractors! In collaboration with the Corrales Tractor club, we plan to have fully decorated, antique tractors on display.
