New Mexico Winter Traditions Activites

Join us for a magical winter experience at the New Mexico Winter Traditions Farm Dinner Series in collaboration with local chefs and Sheehan Winery. Prepare to be captivated as we present a weekly 4-course holiday feast with exquisite wine pairings, set amidst a fairytale-like atmosphere of twinkling lights, towering trees, and magnificent decorations. This is a truly unique event that you won't want to miss.

Recipes are an artful blend of tradition and contemporary elements, ensuring a memorable dining experience that honors our land, traditions, and community. Expect plenty of photo opportunities, stunning light displays, luminarias, and cozy fire pits to warm up next to. This is one farm dinner you won't forget any time soon.

Ingredients will be sourced from local farms to ensure a connection to home during the holidays.

Due to limited space, we are only accepting 30 participants per week. Book in advance to secure your spot and don't miss out on.

Dinners will be held every Saturday evening. Reservations include all food and drinks, however, gratuity can be left for our staff at your discretion.

$40 for a private photo session

2 high-resolution digital images (perfect for holiday cards or framing!)

1 Polaroid photo to take home as a keepsake

 🎄 Get into the Christmas spirit at our Christmas Cookie Decorating Workshop for Kids! 🍪✨

Bring your little elves for a fun-filled, festive day of cookie decorating! We'll have yummy, homemade Christmas cookies ready for your kiddos to get super creative with all kinds of colorful decorating supplies! 🎨🎅 We’ll even make the frosting from scratch right on-site, mixing up beautiful, vibrant colors.

Each child will decorate 3 large, delicious cookies to take home and enjoy. Plus, while they’re getting creative, they’ll have the chance to explore our farm and make new friends along the way. 🐐✨ It’s the sweetest way to kick off the holiday season—come join us for a day of magic, fun, and frosting-filled memories!

 Step into Grandma’s kitchen this holiday season at Big Jim Farms, where we invite you to join us for a special Biscochito Making Workshop. Here, you’ll learn how to bake these beloved cookies from scratch, just like many families have done for generations.

At Big Jim Farms, we’re passionate about preserving the traditions that make New Mexico unique, and biscochitos are at the heart of so many holiday celebrations. Whether these traditions are new to you or you’re looking to reconnect with them, we welcome you to join us in building community and sharing something special together.

As part of the workshop, you’ll roll out your dough, cut your cookies, and take home a batch of your own homemade biscochitos, beautifully packaged in a decorative bag. We’ll also send you home with a recipe card, so you can keep this tradition alive year after year. It’s the perfect way to share the joy of the season with those you love.

Our biscochito workshops are held every Saturday and Sunday throughout the holiday season, but space is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot in advance on our website. We can’t wait to celebrate the warmth of tradition, community, and the sweet taste of New Mexico with you!

Big Jim Farms is a New Mexican U-Pick farm where you can pick your own green chile, flowers, pumpkins, and more. Our mission is to offer educational opportunities that carry on our agricultural traditions in New Mexico.

This holiday season, we're inviting all little crafters to get hands-on at our Christmas Tree Farm and create festive treasures that will make the season even more special! With twinkling lights, fresh pine scents, and a cozy, cheerful atmosphere, it's the perfect place for kids to unleash their creativity.

• Luminarias: Join in this holiday tradition with one-of-a-kind luminarias. Kids will decorate their own, taking home everything needed to light up the night with their personal touch! ✨
• Ornaments Galore: Create adorable, nature-inspired ornaments using Christmas tree stumps, pinecones, and even birdseed! These festive creations are perfect for hanging on the tree or displaying outside for our feathered friends to enjoy. 🐦🎄
• Garland Making: Kids will have a blast creating their very own garland to add extra sparkle to your home. 🎀

 Get your taste buds ready for an epic journey through the flavors of New Mexico! A collaboration with the Larry P Abraham Agri-Nature & Big Jim Farms, join us all for the ultimate Tamale Making class in our New Mexico Winter Workshop Series. You'll be transported to the land of enchantment as you learn the ins and outs of tamale making, from start to finish. The best part? You'll get to take your mouth-watering creations home with you! 

For just $60 per person, all supplies and expert instruction are included. Classes will be held every Saturday and Sunday, featuring a rotating menu of traditional red chile & pork, green chile chicken, and vegetarian options. Come hungry and leave with a newfound culinary skill!

AT JUST $8.50 PER STUDENT (WITH FREE ENTRY FOR ADULTS), YOU'LL BE TREATED TO AN ACTION-PACKED DAY WITH ALL ACTIVITIES INCLUDED. PLUS, DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE COLD, WE'VE GOT HEATED AREAS TO KEEP YOU SNUG AS A BUG.

Field trip includes learning stations, farm animals, play areas, sleigh hay rides, Christmas photo stations, tractors, and other kid activities. 

Field trips last around two hours with an extra hour to have lunch and explore independently.
